On Sunday, August 8, three matches of the fifth round of the Ukrainian Premier League were played. Dynamo and Dnipro got minimal victories - 1:0. In the third match Karpaty beat Arsenal Kyiv - 2:1.

 

On Saturday Shakhtar Donetsk beat Sevastopol - 5:0 and became a leader of the tournament table for 24 hours. One of the goals was scored by a newcomer of Donetsk team Eduardo. On Sunday Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Dynamo Kyiv in their turn won their matches.

 

The footballers of Volodymyr Bessonov managed to beat Tavriia in Simferopol thanks to the only goal of Ruslan Rotan at the 76-th minute. Crimean team had to open the score before this episode, but their best striker Oleksandr Kovpak didn’t score from a spot. The goalkeeper of Ukraine U21 team Anton Kanibolotskiy parried his kick. The last seven minutes were very hard for Dnipro, because of the dismissal of Yevhen Cheberiachko.

 

This minimal success allowed the team from Dnipropetrovsk to turn back the first place of the tournament table. The team got maximum points in the first five games. Shakhtar and Dynamo has got four wins and one draw. As a matter of fact Dynamo Kyiv during this week-end beat Metalurh Donetsk. The deciding goal was score by Dynamo captain Andriy Shevchenko, who has scored in all rounds of a new season.

 

This time 33 years old forward scored after a pass of Artem Milevskiy - 1:0. In its turn Metalurh had to open the score already before the break, by Musavenkosi Mguni didn’t hit the empty goal from the line of a penalty area.

 

In another Sunday match Karpaty managed to beat Arsenal Kyiv. A quick goal of Denys Kozhanov was answered by a penalty, which was score by Maksym Shatskyh. The final goal was scored by Batista at the fourth added minute of the second half − 2:1.
