Dnipro and Metalist outstrip rivals with three goals
01.08.2010, 22:45 | FFU inform-service, fcdynamo.kiev.ua

FC Shakhtar earned a comfortable 3:1 win at FC Arsenal Kyiv on Friday. Serhiy Symonenko spectacularly gave Kyiv outfit the lead on 31 minutes from a thirty-meter range. However Mircea Lucescu’s charges, sensing an equaliser and enjoying more possession, grew in confidence and were rewarded when Douglas Costa on 44 minutes netted on the rebound. Shortly afterwards he made double after firing a free kick. After the break he assisted Luiz Adriano who beat Vitaliy Reva. The other Friday’s encounter saw SC Tavriya being held at FC Vorskla − 0-0.

Next day, on Saturday, FC Dynamo Kyiv kept their winning streak alive Saturday afternoon as they beat Ukrainian Premier League newcomers FC Sevastopol 3-0 to earn their third consecutive top-flight win this season.

After a scoreless first half, the White-Blues broke the deadlock early in the second period when Andriy Yarmolenko headed home a cross from his fellow Roman Zozulya. It was soon 2-0 as Dynamo defender Taras Mykhalyk found the back of the net with a strong kick from 25 meters for his first goal of the season. The White-Blues made sure of victory when Dynamo captain Andriy Shevchenko, who remained active and looked dangerous throughout the match, headed the third on 77 minutes, adding fourth to his tally.

It is also worth noting that two first-team players − Artem Kravets and Badr El Kaddouri − made their long-awaited comeback from injuries as they came on as second-half substitutes.

FC Volyn and FC Kryvbas celebrated their first wins of the campaign beating respectively FC Metalurh Z and FC Illichivets who both fell 1-0 behind.

Sunday’s curtain raiser presented a 2-2 draw between FC Zoria and UEFA Europa League third qualifying round contenders FC Karpaty. Two big wins − 3-0 − were recorded later that day when FC Dnipro crashed FC Obolon and FC Metalist swept aside FC Metalurh D. The victory kept FC Dnipro as pacesetters with 12 points at the summit, while FC Dynamo and FC Shakhtar, level on points − 10, share the second position. After Dnipro’s Yevgen Selezniov found his name on the scoresheet, he established himself as a leading goalscorer with five.
