On Sunday, March 14, Shakhtar Donetsk beat in a home match the third-placed Metalist Kharkiv − 2:1 − and caught up with Dymamo Kyiv, which also won its’ match on Saturday. Shakhtar is already 11 points away from Metalist, though the team of Mercea Lucescu played a match more than the opponent.

Dnipro, which is on the fourth place, used the miss of Metalist by winning its game against Obolon and getting closer to the third position. In the first half Dnipro was not good enough, but in the second half the footballers of Volodymyr Bessonov managed to turn the scale into their benefit. Sergii Samodin appeared to be the first one near the ball after the goalkeeper of Andrii Tovt parried a kick from a spot of Sergii Nazarenko and opened the score. Ten minutes later Maksym Kalynychenko’s header after a pass of Sergii Nazarenko made the score 2:0.
Jubilee goal of Shevchenko
On Saturday Dynamo Kyiv beat Vorskla Poltava − 1:0. In the first period the footballers of Valerii Gazzaiev had quite a lot of opportunities to score, but they didn’t manage to use at least one of them. Guests also were close to open the score when Ahmed Yanuzi headed near the stand. In the second period the footballers of Mykola Pavlov didn’t realize a very good moment. After a pass of Markoski Yanuzi could score, but was not accurate. Later Andrii Shevchenko after a pass of Magrao scored the first and the only goal in this game. This goal was Shevchenko’s 100th in all tournaments for Dynamo.
