Lucky second half for Dnipro

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk managed to get three points in away match against Illichivets. Mariupol team had several good opportunities in the first period o open the sore, but didn’t use them. In the second half it was time for the footballers of Volodymyr Bezsonov to score. Goals by Yevhen Selezniov, Maksym Kalininchenko and owngoal from Igor Chuchman helped Dnipro to reach Metallurh Donetsk, and now each of them has 24 points. At the same time one of the outsiders of the championship Kryvbas in a home match was defeated by Karpaty − 2:1.

 

Fernandinho’s miss

Artem Milevskyi scored twice and Andrii Yarmolenko once as Dynamo Kyiv defeated Shakhtar Donetsk in their Matchday 14 game in Kyiv. The tone of the match was set early on, with both sides eager to earn three points. In the fourth minute Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho missed a golden opportunity to put his side ahead from the penalty spot as his shot flew just past the post. The breakthrough came late in the first half, when Shevchenko produced a one-touch pass for Milevskyi to score from close range.

 

Final word of Andrii Yarmolenko

The visitors tried to level the matters right after the restart but it was Valerii Gazzaiev's men who scored the second goal of the match. Shevchenko provided another sublime assist for striker-partner Milevskyi to make it 2-0 in the 54 minute, letting Artem take is his goal tally for the season to nine. The superb link-up play between these two players really impresses…The final word went to Andrii Yarmolenko, who scored following a swift counter-attack. Dynamo stay top of the table, with Shakhtar taking third position. Today’s result ensured the White-Blues will travel to Kazan in good spirits for their UEFA Champion League group stage match against FC Rubin (Russia).

 

Metallist leaves Shakhtar behind

Metallist Kharkiv used a miss of Shakhtar. After their win over Zoria − 2:0 − the footballers of Myron Markevych managed to become the second team in a tournament table and leave Shakhtar behind. The result of the match was decided only during the last 15 minutes. At first Oleksandr Rykun made a brilliant pass on Koelho, who opened the score, and in a few minutes Denys Oliinyk doubled it after a pass of Rykun. In the other Saturday matches Metalurh Donetsk beat Arsenal − 3:0, and Tavriia and Vorskla got wins with the same score − 3:2 − over Zakarpattia and Obolon accordingly.
