No jokes in Odesa
The win over Chornomorets let Shakhtar cut down the distance to Dynamo to four points. However the trip to Odesa wasn’t that easy. Shakhtar’s being active at the beginning of the match embodied into a quick goal. Fernandinho passed to Luiz Adriano, who made a down shot into the penalty from the left flank − Jadson’s shot was irreproachable. Such unexpected turn made Chornomorets alter their tactics and venture to attack. The home side poured down and created a host of chances which therefore weren’t converted into goals. Despite the utter drive and zest for win demonstrated by Anatolii Bal’s lads, Shakhtar’s goal left unscathed till the final whistle.
Draw in Kyiv
FC Dynamo Kyiv were forced to settle for a draw in their Matchday 12 game against stubborn rivals from Lviv. The White-Blues made a concerted effort to claim three points but ultimately all their attempts proved unsuccessful. The visitors provided stiff opposition for Valeriy Gazzaev's men and went into a 1-0 lead thanks to goal from Karpaty forward Serhiy Zenyov. But substitute Miloš Ninković hit back for the White-Blues in the second-half. The home side kept Karpaty under constant pressure and tried hard to find a winner. However, the Lviv outfit withstood Dynamo’s active attacks, mostly thanks to brilliant display from goalkeeper Andriy Tlumak, and earned a point against the championship leaders. Valeriy Gazzaev’s side still tops the table with thirty-two points. There’s no time to lose heart, especially prior to the Champions League match against Group F opponents FC Internazionale.
Dnipro let the win slip away
Dnipro’s trip to Simferopol appeared a failure. Volodymyr Bezsonov’s footballers settled a lead in 30th minutes due to Maksym Kalynychenko. But closer to the end they let the victory slip away after conceding twice. Metalist faced a fierce resistant in Donetsk against Metalurh. Both teams found it stiff to get behind the opponents’ defense. But finally luck smiled at Kharkiv team. In the added time Marco Devic struck from the spot. FC Vorskla battled out the first home win of the season after running a 9-match winless spell. They established their supremacy in the first half against Zoria. The way the game unfolded the latter had few chances to avert the deafeat.
