Another goal performance from Shakhtar
The charges of Mircea Lucescu have actively started the match, having grabbed game and territorial priority. After Fernandinho pass Tlumak, Karpaty goalkeeper was only a moment before Shakhtar forward Jullius Aghahowa. However, the scoring was opened in 6th minutes by Fernandinho’s brilliant shot to the lower right corner. In 14th minutes Jadson shot exactly to the same corner Fernandinho has done, increasing the lead. The second half fitted into the same pattern as the first one. Karpaty consoled with the only goal when Holodyuk sent the ball to the close corner of Andriy Pyatov’s goal by an attractive shot from about 30 meters. Lucescu’s side drove the scroline to the crushing one.
Shevchenko’s contribution
Valeriy Gazzaev’s men came from a goal behind to secure a narrow 2-1 home win against FC Obolon Kyiv which keeps them top in the league table. Obolon’s Serhiy Yavorskyy made the breakthrough with a strike on 72 minutes, but the White-Blues were back on level terms just two minutes later. Dynamo captain Artem Milevskyy was in the right place at the right time to convert the rebound after Oleh Husyev’s effort was parried by Obolon goalkeeper Andriy Tovt. Dynamo continued to press forward and soon scored the winner thanks to Andriy Shevchenko. The striker showed his class when he turned in Miloš Ninković's perfect pass to put the hosts ahead ten minutes from time. The players are now fully concentrated on their upcoming trip to Italy and expect the match against Champions League opponents FC Internationale Milano in a good mood.
Efficient Rykun
Metalist had a trip to Mariupol to withstand Illichivets. Kharkiv club dominated on the pitch from the first minute. Hence, their domination was converted in a goal in 6th minutes. Oleksandr Rykun made a brilliant pass to Koelho who tackled a defender and hit the target. Marco Devic and Serhiy Valyayev could have extended the lead but their chances left raw. Finally the score was doubled due to pair Rykun − Koelho.
