Landmark win for Lucescu
On Sunday, October 5, the 10th round of Ukrainian Premier League concluded with a crushing 3:0 win of Shakhtar over Chornomorets. The win in Odesa became the hundredth one for Mircea Lucescu in Ukrainian Championship. But for Romanian specialist it wasn’t as easy as the score line may show.
Shakhtar was due to score in 23 minutes when Fernandinho took the penalty kick after Oleksandr Hladkiy was fouled on, but Chornomorest goalkeeper Evgen Shyryaev produced a smart reaction stop. Later on he was well placed when Darion Srna kicked on the rebound. But in 5 minutes the host side opened the scoring as Hladkiy made a snap-shot after Srna’s pass from the right.

Double from Luis Adriano

Chornomorets were looking more threatening at the end. Oleksandr Kosyrin seized the opportunity when Dmytro Chygrynskiy was close to getting his foot to the ball. Then he passed by Pyatov and shot into the empty goal, but luckily for Donetsk side, Mykola Ischenko kicked the ball away. The home side were resolute to score by any chance and they poured down. However, such invasion proved favorable for Shakhtar whose Luis Adriano made two successful counterattacks.

Metalurh D extend winning stripe
Metalurh D had no problem beating at home Premier League outsider Illichivets. The host side opened the scoring on 2 minutes. Konstantinos Makridis’ stunning pass found Oleksandr Sytnyk who netted the goal. In the second half Metalurh were looking for the second, and on 65 minutes Makridis darted after an emphatic pass from Sunny Kingsley.

Price of one slip
Kyiv Bannikov stadium hosted a clash between Arsenal and Dnipro. The game appeared rather slow, with paucity of moments. A stunning chance aroused for Andriy Vorobey in the first half, but his shot hit the crossbar. Shortly afterwards Arsenal men responded with a strike that found a bar on its way. Such situations presume that only one slip can result into a goal. Subsequently, Kyiv players were those to let Ruslan Rotan mark in 52 minutes. Oleksandr Zavarov’s lads had several chances in the added time. His son Valeriy could score as soon as he stepped up on the pitch. But Dnipro defenders were well placed.

Time for Bangoura
In the encounter with FC Kharkiv Dynamo manager Yuriy Semin employed trusted lads on the pitch without resorting to experiments. Comparing to the Champions League clash with Fenerbahçe, Dynamo line up faced insignificant changes. Andriy Nesmachniy was placed on the left of the defense instead of the injured El Kadduri, and the attacking line was consigned to Ismael Bangoura and Artem Kravets, Dynamo started the first half strongly, bossing the possession. But up to the break the game saw no scoring. Unlike the first half, the second one proved fatal for the home side. The scoring was opened in 57 minutes by Ognjen Vukojević  whose header finished a pass from Ninkovic. Moments later the score was doubled. This time Tiberiu Ghioane contributed. He fired a shot which deflected from FC Kharkiv Andriy Sokolenko into own goal. It was Bangoura who extended the lead. First he realized a penalty kick after a foul against Roman Zozulya, then the Guinean man played one-on-one with the goalkeeper and left Kharkiv without chances.
