On Friday, August 8, the clash between Dnipro and Shakhtar launched the fourth round of Ukrainian Premier-League. The match was considered a central one as it saw the first and the fourth teams of the previous championship competing.
Premier League. The 4th round
Metalist Kharkiv − FC Lviv − 0:0.
Metalurh Zaporizhya − Tavriya Simferopol − 1:0 (Sylyuk, 81).
Arsenal Kyiv − Zorya Lugansk − 1:1 (Lysenko, 26 − Djikhani, 81).
Vorskla Poltava − Dynamo Kyiv 2:2 (Esin, 34, Curri, 79 − Mylevskiy, 30, Bangoura 59).
Chernomorets Odesa − Kryvbas Kryviy Rig − 2:0 (Vasquez, 54, Kosyrin, 85).
Karpaty Lviv − Illichivets Mariupol − 1:0 (Feschuk, 40, penalty kick).
Metalurh Donetsk − FC Kharkiv 3:0 (Dimitrov, 18, Fernandes, 24, penalty kick, Kingsley, 63).
Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk − Shakhtar Donetsk − 0:0.
Chances exachange
Shakhtar dominated possession at the beginning of the game, but in five minutes Dnipro players became more aggressive trying to get behind the opponents’ defense. Kalynychenko in assistance with Nazarenko and Rotan were repeatedly annoying Shakhtar’s defenders keeping them vigilant all the time. Yet, Andriy Vorobey fashioned the best chance but his shot missed the goal. Then Brandao thrilled the crowd kicking in the bar. Close to the end of the first half Willian tackled Dnipro defender and shot into a corner − the goalkeeper denied the attempt. The football bounced back, Brandao made a dart to it and sent it home. Referee showed that the Brazilian was in an offside position.
Equal replacements
After the break Lucescu’s side were more active again. Nonetheless, territory domination didn’t bring capitalizing. The only dangerous chance was created by Rat who struck from about 25 metres. This time Dnirpo shot-stopper Kernozenko showed his excellence once again sending the ball off the field. The host side managed to score but, like with Brandao, referee indicated Rusol has kicked from the offside zone. The match concluded with a domination of Protasov’s lads, however the scoreline left intact − 0:0.
Two goals in four minutes
The result of the Ukrainian Premier-League match Vorskla vs. Dynamo leaves the Kyivers five points behind first-placed Metallurg Donetsk FC. The White-Blues took the lead at the Butovsky Vorskla Stadium after 30 minutes when Artem Milevskyy scored with a thunderous strike from 12 meters in a far corner. But the host team was not kept down for long. Vorskla hit back with an equaliser from Yesin four minutes later ending the first half of the game in 1:1.
Curri sealed draw
Yuriy Semin's team kept the pressure on in the second half in search of victory. It seemed things were going Dynamo's way again when Bangoura restored Dynamo’s lead with a help of Milevskyy pass. The second equalizer came from Curri in the 79th minute. He netted the ball from close range and earned a 2:2 draw for his team. The visitors could have scored on several occasions during the match, but missed the chances to convert the opportunities that were created. Thus, the White-Blues failed to pull off the victory. Also, having played at a high level, the players of Vorskla managed to show interesting game and demonstrate their strong points.
Metalurh Donetsk wins again
Leader of Ukraine Premier League Metalurh Donetsk played a home match with Kharkiv. Donetsk players beat their opponents 3:0 and stayed at the top of the tournament table. In another match Metalist played with Lviv and didn’t manage to win instead of creating numerous moments to score. In the very end of the match Lviv could even win, but Valeriy Fedorchuk who found himself face to face with Oleksandr Goryainov wasn’t accurate enough.
