Aliev lacked accuracy
Dynamo Kyiv ended the Premier League Week 3 game with defeat as Metalist Kharkiv gained a 1-2 victory at Lobanovskyy Dynamo Stadium. Kyivers applied the pressure throughout the game but found it difficult to actually produce scoring chances while Metalist’s fast counter attacks gave positive result. Visitors succeeded in kicking the ball into the host's net twice deserving three more points. Dynamo halfback Oleksandr Aliyev was very close to capitalizing on free kicks, but fortune didn’t smile at him that evening.
Goal exchange
The opener came in the 37th minute from Metalist’s midfielder Serhiy Valyayev. Dynamo continued to move ahead but the White-Blues' multiple attacks were constantly blocked by opponent’s defensive line. As a result the host team managed to level taking a 1:1 draw into the break. Milos Ninković sent a pin-point 20-meter kick and equalized the score in the last minutes of the first half. As for the second period, the game proceeded in the same manner. Dynamo kept on dominating on the pitch but players' actions led to nothing. Eventually Metalist took occasion and shot ahead making the score 1:2.
Minimal win for Dnipro
FC Lviv, who entered Premier League this season, hosted FC Dnipro. This match was quite nervous for coaches of both teams. Lviv mentor Stepan Yurchyshyn was afflicted by injuries of a number of his lads. Oleh Protasov faced a problem when his side gained only one point after two rounds played. So, naturally, Dnipro footballers dominated possession as soon as the match kicked off. A trio of Rotan − Nazarenko − Vrorbey poured down but Lviv goalkeeper Andriy Rad grabbed the ball. Moving on, the guests were becoming more adventurous. Two chances were created by Ruslan Rotan and Bohdan Shershun but they failed to get behind the opponents’ defense. In the second half Protasov brought in a young halfback Dmytro Lyopa who contributed to a win of his side. After Nazarenko performed a ‘standard’, the ball rebounded right to Lyopa’s foot who immediately kicked on the rebound. The ball was heading the right corner direction when it suddenly deflected from his course touching Kornilenko.
Shakhtar prevailing over Illichivets
FC Shakhtar Donetsk gained the first home victory over FC Illichivets Mariupol. Lucescu side opened the score on the 4th minute when Srna took a direct kick and a visitors’ defender Nefedov headed the football into his own net. On the 83d minute Brandao passed a brilliant chance to Seleznyov who converted it into a goal. Three minutes after Chygrynskyy applied an accurate pass to Srna who redirected right to the centre of the penalty box where Seleznov paid off his debt to Brandao and left his chance to the Brazilian who set the final score.
