Derby rout hands Shakhtar the title
17.05.2008, 21:30 | Uefa.com

FC Shakhtar Donetsk have won their fourth Ukrainian title in style, beating neighbours FC Metalurh Donetsk 4-1 on the final day of the season.

Brazilian treble
A point clear of eternal rivals FC Dynamo Kyiv going into the final match of the campaign, Mircea Lucescu's side knew a win would be enough to claim the crown regardless of Dynamo's result at FC Metalist Kharkhiv, and any nerves were well and truly settled by half-time as goals from Brazilians Jadson, Ilsinho and Fernandinho put them 3-0 up. Oleksandr Kosyrin pulled one back for Metalurh after the interval, but Konstantin Kravchenko restored Shakhtar's three-goal advantage before full-time. Dynamo, meanwhile, scraped a 2-2 draw at Metalist to finish three points adrift of the champions. They had earlier also lost to Shakhtar in the Ukraine Cup final. The double winners will kick off their 2008/09 UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round, while runners-up Dynamo will start in the second qualifying round.
