On Saturday, September 12, the 2009/2010 Datagroup Ukrainian Cup matches were played around the country with Metalist − Dynamo clash on top of fans’ expectations. The home side lost to the champions after Roman Zozulya’s header. Myron Markevych’s lads were about to equalize after Koelho fired an unstoppable shot and hit the post. But the win for Metalist was difficult to catch.
 
Easy win for Shakhtar
Shakhtar had no problems beating FC Yednist. But Donetsk footballers managed to open the scoring only in some minutes before the break. However, Shakhtar dominated possession and ruled the game to the happy ending for themselves. In the meantime, Metalurh Donetsk swept Karapaty aside 2:1. Fabinho and Dimitrov secured a win for their team whereas Kononov’s footballers consoled themselves with prestige goal. In Lutsk Volyn squeezed past Kryvbas.
