26.05.2009, 17:15 | FFU info service

On Tuesday, May 26, the VIII International Victor Bannikov Memorial concluded in Kyiv. Apart from the capital, Boryspil, Makariv and Obukhiv hosted the competition. Serbia Under-16 team finished in the first place after a 2:0 win over Turkey.

Confident win of Serbia
Serbia side, who ruled Ukraine out of the final, started the match in a confident way. They opened the scoring in 2 minutes when Ivan Dragičević knocked the ball in the net. Then the Serbs conceded the initiative to the quick-moving Turks waiting for the counterattack. And their efforts were rewarded in 74 minutes when Lazar Markovic played one-to-one with the goalkeeper and curled the ball in the net.

The teams were congratulated by Victor Bannikov’s wife Lyudmila Bannikova, FFU vice president and Executive director Oleksandr Bandurko, President of the National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka, deputy Minister for family, youth and sports Rostyslav Karandyeyev.
