Russia won the VIII Valeriy Lobanovskiy Memorial after recording uneasy 2-1 win over Iran in the final.
Ukraine and Turkey contested the bronze medals. The home side looked more threatening and dominated possession more. As a result, they created more chances near the opponents’ goal. The blue-yellows took the lead at the first injury time thanks to FC Arsenal Kyiv halfback Andriy Bogdanov’s strike, who registered himself in the semifinal duel against Iran.
Ukraine doubled their advantage soon after the break with FC Metalurh D’s Vasyl Pryima finding the net. Eight minutes later Iran battled one back with FC Dynamo Kyiv’s Tymur Partsvania scoring an own goal. At the end Ukraine created a couple of late half-chances but the scoreline remained untouched.
