On Tuesday, August 19, U-21 teams of Poland and Ireland played the first match in the VII International Valeriy Lobanovskiy Memorial. Poland team bossed possession on the pitch scoring only one goal. Kamil Wilczek secured a 1:0 win and booked passage for Poland U-21 team to the final of Lobanovskiy Memorial contest.

The second semifinal saw Ukraine U-21 team competing with Bulgaria. Unfortunately, home side succumbed, therefore having the chance to struggle for the third place in the competition. The crucial moment occurred on the 80th minute when Evgen Yevseev knocked the rival down and saw the red light. Kurdov performed the penalty kick and his decider left Ukraine out of the final.
