Consolation from Budnik
Despite a defeat in Moldova Ukraine WU17 team managed to occupy the second position in Group 6 of the 2010 European Women’s Under-17 championship qualifying and advanced to the next stage. The first half was positive for Netherlands side who dominated on the pitch and netted twice. After the break Ukrainian girls geared up but failed to level the scoring. Hence, the consolation goal was secured by Rodyna defender Svitlana Budnik.
Next stage in spring
In the second qualifying round draw the 16 sides will be split into four groups, to be played as one-venue mini-tournaments in the spring. The four teams finishing top will progress to the final tournament, again held in UEFA's Swiss hometown of Nyon. The semi-finals at the Colovray Stadium are on Tuesday 22 June with the final and third-place play-off four days later, taking place on a weekend for the first time.
