On Wednesday, August 11, Ukraine Under-21 team were held 0-0 by Montenegro in a friendly.
Ukraine manager Pavlo Yakovenko found it impossible to count on several players at a time. So, Andriy Yarmolenko missed out on a place in the lineup due to health concerns, while Yaroslav Rakytskiy and Yevgen Konoplianka were capped to the senior national team. There were few chances in the first half with Ukraine mustering just Mykola Moroziuk shot from the area.
After the break the home side looked more adventurous, mostly due to Roman Zozulia;s performance. The blue-yellows were close to break the deadlock on 71 minute but Moroziuk finding himself in front of the goal without the goalstopper sent the ball wide. The could soon concede when the opponents’ player was one-on-one with Kanibolotskiy only to hit the woodwork. Finally, the teams ended a clean sheet.
