On Sunday, August 8, Ukraine Under-21 team will get down to preparation for the friendly against Montenegro that will take place three days later at Kyiv’s Obolon stadium. The match kicks off at 21.00.
Team’s head coach Pavlo Yakovenko called up 20 players for the training camp traditionally located in Irpin. The lineup features the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Zozulia − Ukraine internationals. Besides, there is a new face among the candidates − FC Volyn’s Bogdan Butko.
Ukraine regard the game against Montenegro as important stage of preparation towards the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 championship qualifying outing against France. Pavlo Yakovenko’s team top their qualifying group 8 with 14 points after 6 matches. The closest rivals Belgium and France settle three points behind with the latter having a game in hand. Ten group winners will progress to the next stage along with four second-placed teams with the best record. In play-off round they will be competing for seven berths for the final tournament in Denmark.
