On Thursday, October 1, the coach of Ukraine U21 team Pavlo Yakovenko named the long-list of players, who will prepare for the EURO 2011 (U21) qualifiers against Belgium and Slovenia. Ukrainians are to play against their Belgian coevals on October 9 at Dynamo stadium in Kyiv (beinning at 8 p.m.). Five days later they are to play against Slovenians at Arena Petrol stadium in Celje (beginning at 6 p.m. according to Kyiv time).
Lysenko’s return
There are 25 footballers in Yakovenko’s long-list. It is necessary to mention the first appearance in the team of forward of Chornomorets Odesa Oleksandr Yakymenko, midfielder of Illichivets Mariupol Igor Tyschenko and universal player from Shakhtar Donetsk Vitaliy Vitsenets.
Leadership of Belgians
We should remind that Ukraine U21 team is now at the second place in its group together with France U21 team. The first position is occupied by Belgians. According to the format of the qualifying tournament 52 participants are divided into 10 groups Ten winners of their groups and four best second teams will meet in play-off matches after which seven teams will get the right to take part in 2011 EURO Under-21 European Championship final tournament, which will be hosted by Denmark.
