On Wednesday, May 20, Ukraine U-21 team manager Pavlo Yakovenko named the list of the players for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying against Malta. The game will take place on June 9 in Borodyanka Kyiv region.
Preparation in Irpin
The coach called out 24 footballers for the training session that kicks off on May 30. The list features no newcomer. Our team will hold the preparation process in Irpin town. We remind that on March 31 the first qualifying match took place where Slovenia secured a 2:0 win in an outing with Malta. The ‘blue-yellows’ will face France and Belgium in the EURO 2011 campaign.
Serious rivals
With Denmark automatically qualifying for the finals in June 2011 as hosts, the remaining 52 teams were drawn into ten groups - eight with five teams and two with six. The ten group winners and the four best runners-up at the end of the group stage will move on to the play-off for the final tournament, with the winners of those seven two-legged ties joining hosts Denmark in the final tournament.
