Experiments underway
Pavlo Yakovenko went on further with experiments over U-21 team squad in Portuguese Estádio Jorge Sampaio. Ukraine manager decided to omit from Pyrenean a host of footballers who played in the previous encounters with Arsenal (Roman Zozulya, Andriy Yarmolenko, Andriy Rad) and Netherlands U-21 team (Artem Kravets, Dmytro Lyopa, Mykola Morozyuk).
Lysenko’s attempts
Pavlo Yakovenko’s lads were somewhat clumsy in the attacking line for a while. The only forward Volodymyr Lysenko found it hard to make a breakthrough past opponents’ defense. However, he deserves praise for making every endeavor to create scoring chances. He kept annoying Portugal defenders with steady pressure. Eventually, his relentless attempts didn’t pass unheeded and the home side started to make slips.
The decider
One of them resulted in a goal. The ball found Karpaty halfback Volodymyr Bidlovskiy in the goalmouth corner who passed to Valeriy Fedorchuk. The latter made an emphatic finish.
