 Yakovenko: «Our aim is Olympic games 2012» | | 08.10.2008, 20:15 | Bogdan Buga, FFU |  |  |  | On Wednesday, October 9 Ukraine U-21 team hold an open training at Dynamo Kyiv base in Koncha Zaspa at the beginning of which the journalists could talk to team’s coach Pavlo Yakovenko. We should remind that Ukraine U-21 team is preparing for Euro-2011 qualification (U-21) and its next opponents I friendly matches will be Holland and Portugal. Ukrainians are to play with Holland on the 10th of October at Kyiv stadium Obolon (the beginning at 3 p.m.) and in four days they are to go to Portugal to play the next match.
New cycle «We are starting a new cycle. It is the first time I called the players of 1988 year of birth and younger, − Yakovenko said to the journalists. − But I want to mention that the work in this direction has also been made before. My predecessor Volodymyr Muntyan also looked over a lot of candidates. Also we got information from Ukraine U-19 team coach Oleksandr Lysenko».
Too early to make conclusions U-21 European championship of 2011 is also a selection for Olympic Games 2012. The teams which reach the semi-final stage will get the order to take part in Olympic Games. So, Yakovenko put the aim to get to this competition. The coach told that it is quite hard to estimate the potential of the team. «We will make the first conclusions after the matches with such strong opponents as Holland and Portugal», − he explained. Also Ukraine U-21 team will play a friendly match against Arsenal Kyiv. |
