Youth national team of Ukraine composed of players under age of 21 in the EURO-2019 qualifying match against Scotland has managed to beat their peers.
Ukrainian team considered this friendly match with one purpose - to bring home three points. After defeat at home from the team of England (0:2), Oleksandr Holovko's wards were obliged to win in their last match in 2017 in order to keep their chances for the Euro-2019.
Head coach made four substitutions in the starting line-up compare to the match against England: Oleksandr Osman, Oleksiy Gutsulyak, Volodymyr Shepelyev and Stanislav Bilenkyi were subsituted by Mykola Matvienko who joined U-21 from the camp of the National team, Andriy Boryachuk, Oleksandr Pikhalonok and Artem Besyedin.
In the first half, the local team were more confident and more possessed the ball. Ukrainians relied on the powerful center-forward who received a great number of aerial passes.
In the first half of the match, Ukrainians has managed to upset local goalkeeper. Artem Besyedin with a strong shoot sent the ball to the penalty area and after a few ricochets Andriy Boryachuk scored the goal - 0:1.
The second goal Oleksandr Holovko’s wards scored during injury time of the second half. Bogdan Mykhailychenko, who substituted Andriy Boryachuk, brought Victot Kovalenko face- to-face with goalkeeper, and midfielder of Shakhtar overplayed his opponent – 0:2, convincing victory of Ukrainians!
