U-19: crucial prick of Yarmolenko | | 16.04.2008, 19:15 | Kostyantyn Patkevych, FFU | | | | On Wednesday, April 16, U-19 team of Ukraine overcame Italian side in a friendly that took place in Kyiv. The 1:0 win was secured by Dynamo forward Andriy Yarmolenko.
Important sparring This sparring was essential for both teams before May test in Elite round of EURO 2008 (U19). So, it’s no wonder that coaches of the teams − Oleksandr Lysenko and Francesco Rocca − called up fairly the strongest squads.
Quick start The match kicked off, and the hosts acted in a more active way, thus scoring a quick goal. Kharkiv midfielder Maksym Bily was about to net striking from the right wing. However, Brescia goalkeeper parried the ball in a desperate jump but Andriy Yarmolenko was in the right place to score − 1:0.
First half more prolific To make the game more adroit, Oleksandr Lysenko let out ten fresh footballers in the second half, leaving only Chornomorets halfback Serhiy Politylo on the pitch. Lysenko’s counterpart has put six new players. It’s worth noting that Dnipropetrovsk Arthur Karnoza provided steady danger in Italia goalkeeping area. Nonetheless, the Apennine team was about to take advantage of several technical and positional slips of Ukraine defense. In the after-match briefing our manager revealed he enjoyed the first half more. On the other hand, he didn’t keep back the satisfaction of result and game of his lads.
