On Monday, August 18, Ukraine U-19 team played its first match against their Spanish coevals at representative international tournament which takes place in Ireland and lost 0:3. We remind that our team will stroll to the EURO 2009 (U-19) final in Donetsk and Mariupol as a host team. So, this tournament is considered to be one of the stages of preparation for European championship.
Deciding red card
Instead of Spanish team was a favourite in this match in the first period fans could see quite equal game, because Ukrainians were disciplined and didn’t let their opponents to hold initiative. Each team had good chances to score, but there was a fair draw 0:0 after the first half of the game. In the second period there was a second yellow card for Vitaliy Vitsenets and since then «yellow-blue» team began to make mistakes in defense. As a result three goals were score by their competitors. Ukraine team coach Yuriy Moroz said after the match: «I liked the way my guys played, they tried very hard, wanted to play. Of course, we still have lots of problems and such strong team as Spain showed us our drawbacks. So, we shall work. All the more we still have time for it».
