On Friday, July 10, Ukraine students’ team won the completion in Serbia for the second time in a row after beating Italy in the final.
Efficient corners
Two years ago these teams have already met in the final clash to claim Universiade gold, and at that time only one shot determined the outcome. This time the spectators witnessed already five goals. In 2nd minute Ukraine opened the scoring after the corner. Igor Gordya came out to send the corner strike, Anton Monakhov redirected it to the post to find Vladyslav Piskun. The second goal had a strong resemblance with the first one, only this time Monakhov netted himself without passing forward. However, Italians managed paid back with the goal scored from the corner as well. The victory was sealed when Igor Gordya made a slalom run on the wing and passed to Andriy Shevchuk, but the pass found Italy footballer who brought an own goal to his side.
