On Tuesday, May 25, Ukraine national team beat Lithuania (4:0) in a friendly match, which was played within a framework of preparations for EURO 2012. This match was a debut one for the coach Myron Markevych and it appeared to be quite successful for him. Ukrainians opened the score in the very beginning from a penalty kick of Oleksandr Aliiev.

After his very strong kick the goalkeeper parried a ball into the stand and then it jumped off into the net. In seven minutes Aliiev showed that his left leg is not only for walking as he scored a second goal after a pass from Andriy Shevchenko. After this goal Ukrainians lowered a tempo, but went on controlling the game.

In Ukrainian team a debutant from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Yevgen Konoplianka was distinguished by his activity. Vasyl Kobin was the one, who helped Konoplianka in his wing. In the opposite flank, where Oleg Gusiev and by turns Ruslan Rotan and Oleksandr Aliiev played, Ukrainians were lack o speed. It is necessary to mention that Lithuanians had some opportunities to score, but goalkeeper Oleksandr Goriainov was at his best this evening.

In the second half nothing has changed on the field. Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Oleg Gusiev were close to score, but this time opponent’s goalkeeper saved his team. But on the 68th minute Ukrainian captain Andriy Shevchenko made the score 3:0 after a kick from the spot. In nine minutes Shevchenko scored his second one and the fourth for the team. Till the end of the game the score didn’t change.
