On Monday, November 17, Ukraine national team before its last match in the year 2008 against Norway invited mass-media to its location. Traditionally an opened training of the team was preceded by a press-conference with the team’s coach Oleksiy Mykhailychenko taking part in it.
Jubilee match
Friendly match with Vikings will be a jubilee 150th for Ukrainians in their history. According to the words of their coach it will be an additional stimulus for his footballers. «We understand that this match is a great responsibility for us and we will as usual prepare for it very carefully, − Mykhailychenko mentioned. − We are lack of time, but it is a usual thing for friendly matches».
Plus Krasnopyorov and Shevchuk
The list of the footballers who were called to the national team was corrected some days ago. In particular instead of injured Andriy Nesmachniy and Denys Holaido Mykhailychenko sent the invitations to Oleh Krasnopyorov and Vyacheslav Shevchuk. The next WC 2010 qualification match «blue-yellow» are to play with England, so it’s not surprising that exactly Norwegians became the opponents of Ukrainians in this friendly match. «We learned the style of this team. They are very alike with Englishmen. I suppose it will be very useful to watch called players in this match».
Chance for newcomers
First emergence of Marco Devych in the national team caused a great excitement among mass-media. Mykhailychenko explained his choice: «When calling Devych I grounded on real assessment of his conditions at the moment. We cannot say now that he is at his best now comparatively with preceding season, but he is somewhere near. We are going to examine not only Devych in this match, but also Valyayev, Krasnopyorov and others».
