On Tuesday, September 30, Ukraine national team manager Oleksiy Mykhailychenko revealed the squad for FIFA World Cup qualifier against Croatia. Current list of candidates faced some changes comparing to the previous matches with Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Goalkeeping in Dynamo leads to national team
Shakhtar Donetsk goal stopper Rustam Khudzhamov was omitted from the line up, instead Dynamo Stanislav Bogush is invited to the team. At the same time the list doesn’t feature his mates Andriy Nesmachniy and Artem Milevskiy, and Shakhtar Oleksiy Hay. Besides, this list may undergo changes after the Champions League and UEFA Cup clashes and the next Premier League round.
Ukraine squad:
Goalkeepers: Andriy Pyatov (Shakhtar), Stanislav Bogush and Oleksandr Shovkovskiy (both from Dynamo).
Defenders: Vyacheslav Shevchuk, Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Oleksandr Kucher (all from Shakhtar), Taras Mykhalyk (Dynamo), Hryhoriy Yarmash (Vorskla), Vitaliy Mandzyuk (Arsenal), Andriy Rusol (Dnipro).
Halfbacks: Maksym Kalynychenko and Serhiy Nazarenko (both from Dnipro), Denis Holaydo (Tavriya), Anatoliy Tymoschuk (Zenit FC, Russia), Yevhen Levchenko (Groningen, Netherlands), Serhiy Kravchenko (Vorskla), Oleksandr Aliyev (Dynamo).
Forwards: Andriy Voronin (Hertha BSC, Germany), Andriy Shevchenko (AC Milan, Italy), Volodymyr Homenyuk (Tavriya), Yevhen Seleznyov (Shakhtar).
Monday promises busy
Mykhailychenko’s team start their training session on Monday, October 6. The same day the journalist may witness the opened training session at Dynamo training base in Koncha Zaspa. It will be preceded by a press conference chaired by head coach (kick off time at 4.30 p.m.).
