Ukraine national team coach Oleksiy Mykhailychenko

Oleksiy Mykhailychenko: «We had enough character and desire for win»
06.09.2008, 23:15 | FFU inform-service

Bernd Shtange appeared at after match press-conference before Oleksiy Mykhailychenko. His face showed that he was very disappointed. But instead of this fact he didn’t refuse to speak with journalists in contrast to the coach of Poland Leo Beenhakker who refused to be present at press-conference only because of a large number of journalists.

The start of marathon
«I want to congratulate Ukraine national team with getting three points. As to our team I suppose that we were simply unlucky today and didn’t bring home at least one point. However we are proud that the progress of our team is quite noticeable. Qualifying round is a marathon race. There are falls and rises. I hope that today it was our lowest point».

«Didn’t play good enough to win»
Oleksiy Mykhailychenko emphasized that it was the most difficult win among those five one’s that Ukraine got in Lviv: «Frankly speaking today we were lucky to get a victory, because we didn’t play good enough to win. It was seen in the first half of the game that we didn’t control the middle of the field. On the whole we had only creative players in the centre. But today footballers have to know everything. We saw that Belarus team is organized and disciplined. Instead of they didn’t create dangerous moments near our goal except long distance kicks, we also had only a few moments to score».
