Ukrainians on their way to subdue the world | | 23.10.2007, 16:30 | Bogdan Buga, FFU | |  | | On Tuesday, October 23, a press-conference «World Championship 2007 among paralympic teams: meeting of FFU direction with Ukrainian paralympic team» was held. FFU President Grigoriy Surkis, the head of National Sport Committee of disabled persons Valeriy Sushkevych, the President of disabled persons football Association Borys Voskresenskiy took part in it.
The third march
On the 3rd of November the 3rd World Championship among the teams which consist of players with cerebral palsy will start in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ukrainian team which was the winner of two previous tournaments will go to Brazil as one the main pretender to victory.
The pioneers of Ukrainian football
«I’m very happy to greet you in the House of Football − at your home, − Grigoriy Surkis addressed the paralympic footballers. − You are the pioneers of Ukrainian football, because not any Ukrainian National team have ever had similar achievements before. I often ask myself a question thanks to what you, people with such a hard fate, managed to achieve such results. And I came to a conclusion that the pivot of your success is unity of collective and exceeding manliness. Thank you very much for all that you’ve done for our country at not easy period of its formation». Also FFU President thanked the President of National Sport Committee of disabled persons Valeriy Sushkevych.
Ideal collection of prizes
We should remind that moreover having won two times at World Championships Ukrainian team also was a winner of European tournaments (1999, 2002, 2006), and also gained the main prizes of Paralympic Games 2004 which is the most prestigious tournament in the sport of disabled persons. It should be mentioned that all these trophies were won under the guidance of coaches Sergiy Ovcharenko and Yuriy Tymofeev who have already worked together more than ten years. |
