Referees and clubs held civilized talks
05.03.2008, 10:15 | FFU info-service

On Tuesday, March 4, a seminar for coaches of Premier League clubs headlined «Contemporary interpretation of game rules according to FIFA and UEFA in 2007/08» was held in the House of Football. This seminar was organized by the FFU Scientific-methodic office and FFU Referees Committee.

Interested minority
The invitations to participate in the seminar were distributed among all coaches of Premier League clubs. However, only six of them entertained this suggestion: Volodymyr Bezsonov (FC Kharkiv), Oleksandr Kosevych (FC Zorya), Mykola Pavlov (FC Vorskla), Anatoliy Chantsev (FC Metalurh Z), Valeriy Yaremchenko (FC Karapaty) and Serhiy Yaschenko (FC Metalurh D).Other teams delegated assistants of head coaches.

Filming for Shakhtar
National team coaches Vadym Yevtushenko and Mykhailo Mykhailov participated in the seminar as well as the coaches of clubs. Shakhtar Mirca Lucescu also expressed desire to come to Kyiv but the malady of Shakhtar’s interpreter prevented him from leaving Donetsk. Luckily, the manager of scientific-methodic group of Donetsk club made the filming of the seminar in order to get Shakhtar coaches acquainted with it.

Foreign and own experience
During the seminar the head of the FFU Scientific-methodic office Kostyantyn Vikhrov introduced a contemporary interpretation of game rules according to FIFA and UEFA to the present. The head of the FFU Referees Committee Victor Derdo in his turn highlighted certain clauses concerning violation of the rules, particularly hand ball, offside, simulation, confrontation on the pitch, punching the rival, seizing the ball while fouling, and «fair play» clause. This information was provided with video records of foreign championships and clippings from national championship.

Innovations of FIFA and UEFA
«We’ve been looking for establishing a complete dialog between clubs and referees for a long. And this seminar may be regarded as the first step towards establishing civilized relationships between Premier League representatives and Referees Committee, − Victor Derdo stated». «One of the main tasks we’ve been trying to bring up to you is to let you realize the philosophy of contemporary refereeing and the position of FFU Referees Committee. Considering numerous complaints from Ukrainian coaches as to unjustified halts of a game, it’s useful to know that from now on there’s a determination to promote a contact, forceful football, − Kostyantyn Vikhrov added.»
