Excellent present to Borodyanka school children
05.04.2009, 10:30 | FFU info-service

On Friday, April 3, the inauguration of a multi-functional playing pitch with artificial covering was held in Borodyanka town in Kyiv region within the framework of social sports program named Our Future. Member of FFU Executive Committee, Head of All-Ukrainian Football Association of Students Vitaliy Pylypenko was the major investor of the project. Notably, this pitch was virtually presented to the local school ¹1 to which it is of close proximity.

Infrastructure development

“It’s not the first year since we’ve started to develop football infrastructure of our town. In particular, a specialized football complex Borex operates in Borodyanka. By the way, this complex is enlisted as a potential training base during EURO 2012”, Pylypenko noted. “In fact, this pitch is a structural part of the complex, though its right of property belongs to school ¹1. From now on more than 200 kids will have a chance to play their favorite game in excellent conditions.”

Not only football
It’s worth noting that the newly built pitch has rather modest dimensions − 40x40 meters. “Originally we have been planning to build a pitch 30 meters wide and 60 meters long, but later we’ve met the desires of physical training teachers from the neighboring school. They plan to practice handball games on the pitch and its existing size will be easily divided into two handball pitches”, General director of the above mentioned complex Oleksandr Lekhno explained.

Mass football concern
FFU will keep paying a great deal of attention to the development of ‘Our Future’ program, as well as to other social projects aiming to promote child-youth mass football. As it’s known, at present Ukraine is considered one of the leading states in the world following this activity. Last year UEFA awarded Ukraine a five-star status − the highest so far − within the Charter of mass football. And lately UEFA working group members decided to consider our country as a candidate to receive the sixth star!
