Generation 2012: Polish domination
15.08.2008, 18:45 | FFU inform-service

On Friday, August 15, the 4th International tournament Generation 2012 in which Ukrainian and Polish teams took part ended with the triumph of Wroclaw team. In a deciding match the competitors of the players from Wroclaw were hosts − a team from Morshyn. But instead of the fact that our guys played at home it didn’t help them. The final whistle of the referee fixed a confident win of Poles − 3:0.

Twelve participants
Traditionally, twelve teams took part in the tournament (U-14). Six teams from Ukraine and six from Poland. The competitors were divided into four groups which played matches in two cities. The collectives from Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Gdansk (group A) and from Kyiv, Krakow and Poznan (B) competed in Striy. Whereas Morshyn together with local team greeted guests from Odesa, Hozhuw (C) and also hosted the matches between Donetsk, Warsaw and Wroclaw (D).

Lonely Morshyn
Quite unexpectedly there was only one representative of Ukraine who won its group. It appeared to be a team from Morshyn which joined the teams from Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk in competing for the 1-4 positions. The semifinals were overstrained. Morshyn and Poznan exchanged goals during the game (1:1) and during after-match penalties Ukrainians were more lucky (5:4). In another semi-final the footballers from Wroclaw won opponents from Gdansk (2:0) and entered the final.

Deciding hat-trick
In the last match but one played the teams from Gdansk and Poznan. Instead of Poznan’s efforts their team appeared to be weaker than their opponent and was beat 2:0. The representatives of Wroclaw won even more confidently. The forward of Poles made a hat-trick and brought a victory to his team − 3:0.
