Amateurs celebrated the 10th anniversary | | 27.05.2008, 15:15 | FFU info-service | |  | | On Tuesday, May 10, the House of Football of FFU and Bannikov Complex celebrated the 10th anniversary of Amateur Football Association of Ukraine (AFAU).
Merited awards
Opening the convivial part of the event, AFAU president Fedir Shpyh admitted this jubilee is a great occasion to sum up the conclusions of work made by Association, his counterparts and mates. Naturally, the most active ones received awards from Football Federation of Ukraine. In particular, prizes of honor were issued to AFAU officials, the best coaches of children’s and amateurs’ teams, veterans of the game, officials, mass media representatives and active members of amateur football promotion.
Revival of mass football
For ten years of its existence AFAU in assistance with FFU had made a huge pile of work − they gave new life to mass football in our country which was on the verge of extinction after the split of Soviet Union. Thanks to the specialists of AFAU, ‘Leather ball’ competitions sprang up again on Ukrainian stadiums. By the way, these competitions appear to be the most numerous involving boys and girls at the age of 10-13. More than 50.000 kids participate in them annually!
Salutations from Minister
Minister for family, youth and sports Yuriy Pavlenko sent his warmest regards to AFAU noting that the 10th anniversary is a special and significant event in the life of Ukrainian football family. «Association managed to fill in a spacious football sector which brings emotional satisfaction to those engaged in it». |
