FFU Congress: keeping pace with FIFA and UEFA

On Wednesday, December 17 the X FFU Congress which reviewed the urgent questions of vital activity of home football society was held in the House of Football.

There were five items of the agenda which had to do with the staff changes in FFU direction, changes and additions to the FFU statute. The participants were acquainted with the report as to financial and economic operations of FFU. Besides this all present got the latest information concerning Ukraine’s preparations for EURO 2012.

Executive Committee new faces
The Congress unanimously resolved to take out ex-coach of Ukraine national team Oleh Blokhin and Ravyl Safiullin who relinquished duties of Professional Football League (PFL) head of the squad of the FFU Executive Committee. The last one also lost the post of FFU vice president. In place of them a newly elected head of PFL Svyatoslav Syrota was included into the squad of the Executive Committee. Also, according to the decision of the Congress delegates Premier League became a new collective member of the national federation.

Changes to FFU statute
According to new requirements FIFA and UEFA adopted, FFU statute saw some changes and additions being made. FFU first vice president Serhiy Storozhenko spoke on them. «Associations of all countries are due to unify their statutes with the corresponding documents of supreme football institutions. Ukraine association formed a special group to investigate this issue, take into consideration all demands and remarks, that were disclosed in the final variant of FFU statute».

Ukraine’s recognition
First vice president, FFU Executive director Oleksandr Bandurko spoke on the work of FFU Executive Committee through the period from September 15, 2007, to December 16, 2008. He found this period very complicated and alongside successful. «Mass and children’s football was and still is our priority, therefore Ukraine was awarded a five-star status in terms of UEFA Charter of Mass Football», - he said.

Plan. Third stage
The head of the FFU EURO 2012 Executive Directorate Ivan Fedorenko spoke to the Congress delegates as well. He stated the preparation to the continental competition gradually speeds up. «The UEFA Executive Committee awaits the third stage of EURO-plan to be fulfilled by May 2009. Then the list of the hosting cities will be revealed. So I urge regional federations to get more active so that Ukraine receive maximum opportunities to be introduced during EURO staging», - Fedorenko admitted.
