The ninth special FFU Congress did not look like the previous similar meetings − instead of traditional report of the president of federation all the present were offered to make a collective report of the team of football officials.

In skillful and professional way

«Ruling Federation of Football since 2000, I’ve got all the grounds to affirm that FFU president and the specialists who surround him all this time have become a united team of counterparts, − Grigoriy Surkis stated. − Judge yourself: for the last three years of preparation of the bid for EURO 2012 tender our collective mind succeeded to convince the world and European football community that we can perform a very filigree work in a skillful and professional way».

Representatives of «five-year renaissance»

«We are ready for responsible decisions and actions that will demonstrate to the football community and the entire Ukrainian society high professionalism, state thinking, political and civil maturity of our team, − FFU president proceeded. − «Five year renaissance» should obligatory have those to be in charge of it during the entire period − architects, foremen and regular workers to bear hard every-day labor, who will manage to embody paper projects in real life. The reporting period testified our team are able to endure such trials».

Team of counterparts speak

After the speech that summed up all that was reported by Oleksandr Kadenko (head of mass football committee), Andriy Dyachenko (head of regions society and Inspector committee), Anatoliy Bidenko (vice-president, head of professional football committee) and Oleh Oryehov (head of youth football committee), Grigoriy Surkis returned to the reasons of Ukraine-Poland win in the tender to host EURO 2012 and emphasized its sport, social-political, economic and cultural significance of future football competition for our country.

Cooperation in harmony

«Ukrainian authority really desired EURO 2012 to be staged in our country. And president Kuchma wanted it. And Victor Yushchenko did, who carried on the work. And prime-minister Yanukovych who in 2002-2004 endorsed the corresponding decisions about providing the guaranties. And then was Tymoshenko’s, Yekhanurov’s and again Yanukovych’s government decision… And speakers of the parliament − Lytvyn and Moroz who lobbied the law base of the project to be passed. We can’t but mention vice prime-ministers  - Tabachnyk, Tomenko, Kyrylenko who maintained the «raising» of the project, and minister for sports Korzh whose departments took care of organizing issues, and plenty of other devoted people», − FFU head noted expressing certitude that football authority of Ukraine cooperates with political one.

 Hope for other future

EURO 2012 is a chance to make a drastic change of our country, to present our compatriots a hope of other future which we couldn’t dream about for the next 30-40 years under other circumstances. Failing to realize such opportunity means stealing the future from our descendants, Grigoriy Surkis is convinced.  

Essence of national idea

In the framework of «five-year renaissance» this idea gets filled with certain content. Football project will help to entirely rebuild not only sport infrastructure, but also objects of social sphere, highways, refueling stations, hotels, airports, canteens, etc. Moreover, this brings new employment, budget increase of all levels. On the whole, the right to host football competition presupposes improvement of welfare of the majority of our nation. And for those Ukrainians working abroad this outlines an opportunity to return to homeland, to their families.

Unique way of uniting

«I vehemently believe that through 16 years of independence there were only two cases when Ukrainians truly united − football president proceeded. − The first one was in 1991 when we chose our future, and now − with EURO 2012. This is a unique way to unite the nation, without conflicts, but in a highly democratic way. And let no one gets bothered that the ground for uniting has to do not with politics but with sports».

Fresh blood, rhythmical throb

A competitive capacity of national football will increase owing to EURO 2012. There will be more rich clubs with developed infrastructure. A reproductive mechanism of child and youth schools will be actively functioning. Mass football − an essential base of the favorite game of millions − will receive a tremendous impetus. «The influence of EURO 2012 on a football organism can be compared with the effect of blood transfusion procedure. Fresh blood, rhythmical throb, fabulous, effective game». − Grigoriy Surkis believes.

Game project − to gain victory

«The aim of our team for the next five-year game is to gain a victory, - FFU president summed up. − We realize it’s going to be extremely hard to make it. Many aspects for preparation to EURO 2012 will be forcefully solved. It can’t be otherwise in great sport. No one will serve us a ready infrastructure which in five years will let us host a competition on a decent level. I don’t rely on his majesty Chance and I don’t recommend it to those who are somehow responsible for realizing the most grandiose project of our contemporary history. Probably, that’s the chance our young state received for maturity birthday.»
