11.03.2009, 16:45 | Ukrinform.ua

In 2008, the Ukrainian government 100% fulfilled its obligations on the preparations for the UEFA European Football Championship 2012, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk has told a briefing on Wednesday.

"Implementation of airports projects is almost UAH 1 billion financed, this is 100%, a key object of the UEFA EURO 2012, NSC Olimpiysky in Kyiv, is almost UAH 250 million financed, this is 96%, preparation of national roads for the championship is almost 90% financed, this is more than UAH 1.5 billion (USD 1 - UAH 7.7)," Vasiunyk informed.

The Deputy Premier also reported that on May 8 Ukraine would be ready for a visit of UEFA representatives and it would offer at least 4 cities to host UEFA EURO 2012.

In April 2007, Ukraine and Poland won a UEFA tender to host the UEFA European Football Championship 2012.

In May 2009, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is planning to select four Ukrainian cities that will host the UEFA EURO 2012 finals. Major cities hoping to host the championship in Ukraine are Kyiv, Lviv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk, while Kharkiv and Odesa are reserve cities.
